object-shun

challenging what is real and what is fake, time is warped, objects are thrown.

object-shun is a dance performance/installation that explores the reality and nuance female-identifying bodies inescapably experience. working with living bodies juxtaposed by discarded mannequin parts, themes of body dysmorphia, patriarchal projections, and objectification are exposed.

the space is contaminated by a collection of dismembered female mannequin parts. highlighting objectification, perfection, the ideal, the idol; the male gaze is protrusive.

to incite change, perception must be challenged. turn all eyes to the women. don’t just look, actually see them. allow them to be more than a body, more than an image, more than an object. in a society driven by consumerism and capitalism, and plagued by the persistent pledge of patriarchal ways, the conversation is surging.
